101 in 1001

Well I've seen this list of 101 challenges to do in 1001 days on the blogs of Emily and Heather. I figured since I want to make more use of my blog and I tend to "make" goals but never "follow-through" with said goals, it'd be a challenge in itself for me to continue to use my blog and follow-through with my goals. It may be a challenge for me to just come up with 101 things I want to do. Maybe that will be first on my list (haha). So today Saturday, August 13, 2011 I began the challenge and I'm in the process of coming up with 101 things to do accomplish 1001 days from today. That date will be Saturday, May 10, 2014. My list can be found at the top of my blog or by clicking here. Any goal that is accomplished will be made into a blog post with the tag "101 in 1001". If for some reason a goal cannot be accomplished it will be crossed through.

I've seen a few blogs with this list of 101 challenges to do in 1001 days. I figured since I want to make more use of my blog and I tend to "make" goals but never "follow-through" with said goals, it'd be a challenge in itself for me to continue to use my blog and follow-through with my goals. 30 day challenge - day 9

day 9 - something you're proud of in the past few days

Well since I'm a loser-bum that doesn't work, there's really not much to do that I can be proud of. Oh, actually there is something I am quite proud of. Back in May, I received an email to join Alpha Beta Kappa Honor Society. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to join because I didn't have money to pay the membership fee but I took the birthday money I had and used that. This morning I dropped the application with the new membership fee in the mailbox, so in 4-6 weeks, I'll be receiving my new membership packet. (i'm not quite sure what all is in it, I have to look at the email again.) So that. I am proud of.
On August 11, I found out that a family friend (my mom's friend) passed away from colon cancer. What's awful is that I lost contact with her when my mother left. The last time I thought of this person was on their birthday (the day before mine) and how I wished I could get ahold of her. I remember this person being at all my birthday parties and holiday dinners. She would sometimes drive me to La Patite in the morning before school when my parents had to work early. She would help me with my math homework because she loved math. I remember always knocking my cup over when we went out to eat at Red Lobster but she never yelled at me even though I knew she was tired of it.

Although she wasn't necessarily my friend, she was like family to me. It's something terrible that contact was lost.

Yes, possibly I could have kept in contact myself but it would have been an awkward situation because every time she (or anyone else from the church) saw me they wanted to know if I heard from my mom or how my dad and siblings were doing. I didn't want to talk about my mom and my dad didn't want everyone in his business.

However when I found out she passed away, I felt guilty and I regret not staying in touch with her (and other people from church). Even though I still don't want all the gossip folk in my business asking questions, I think I may try to get in touch with them again.

R.I.P Joan, you will be missed. I'm sorry I lost touch.

30 day challenge - day 8

day 8 - short term goals for this month and why

Well August is only 11 days in...

1.) Move on (stop waiting) and get a job. If it's taken this long (almost 3 months) for the company I'm waiting for to call me back, it's time to move on and get a different job no matter how convenient the other job is right now. I'm tired of being broke and not being able to shop or go out.

2.) See Friends with Benefits. I would love love love to see this movie before it's out of theaters but most likely can't be done until goal 1 is met.

3.) Pay membership fee for Honor Society. Since I'm using the birthday money I got, I should have no problem getting this done. All I need to do is get an envelope and stamp.

4.) Walk at least 4 times a week. So i can be active and drop a few pounds.

5.) Start final projects early. Preferably first week of term, so I have a real head start. This is always a goal for myself yet I never cross it off my list.

6.) Stop feeling so negative about myself. I need to stop beating myself up.

7.) Regain my positive outlook. I hate that I've become such a "Debby Downer". I make myself more miserable for dwelling over things that I have no control over. Although things aren't picture perfect and things aren't going exactly how I imagined they would be I should be grateful for what I have.

30 day challenge - day 7

wow, I'm 7 days in.

day 07- a picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you

Well since I'm in a depressed mood right now, I really can't think of anyone or anything that has had a big impact on me. Maybe I'll revisit this day when I'm not so bitter and have a positive outlook on things. What's the point of anything having a big impact on life when it seems like nothing good will ever happen. It seems like everyday is filled with some type of disappointment. Plans don't fall through and variable x is always in the way.

I'm thinking about doing project 365 again. But I won't conquer that til I finish this 30 day challenge I'm currently working on. So since I'm not doing project365 yet, here's some random photos that I snapped. None of them are completely random but just jumbled all in a post together.

30 day challenge - day 6

Day 6 - favorite superhero and why
Hmmmm, I really don't have a favorite superhero but I guess if I had to pick one it might be Spiderman because I like the movies and I watched (almost) the whole cartoon series with my boyfriend.
